Resolved Question: What resources/personnel are needed to develop a social networking/crowdsourcing website?
If someone has a new idea for a website with a social networking/crowd-sourcing flavor, what limitations should be considered before pursuing its initial development? For example, you anticipate, say, 100,000 new users, each of whom contributes an average of half page of text content (that is sortable/retrievable/displayable by the site). And you want to provide some basic database/analytics based on this content, what resources would that entail? Is this something that you can receive off the ground with existing, off-the-shelf, relatively cheap (or opensource) software? If so, where could I find such resources? And would it be scalable if the site became much more popular? Or would it require a lot of custom programming and high-powered and high-priced database software and associated expenses? Thx,
